The set for the scene is to be based upon the landscape of Dali’s beloved Costa Brava. His imagination was saturated with the beauty of his familiar territory. Features of that landscape infuse his paintings and the imagery of his dreamscapes. The sea, sky and rock formations often form the ground of the paintings. I drew reference from his paintings and photographs of the land near Cadaques on the North Eastern corner of the Spanish Coast, where he lived.

I paid particular attention to the colours and the quality of the light. I had tried to replicate this in the lighting and backdrop of the scene. The church on the pier is typical of the area and also significant in the backdrop of Dali’s life. The Catholic church is deep within the lives and imagination of the Catalan artist. His paintings are filled with the narratives of Catholic Christianity.
