John McKenna's relief project

I recently did some more work for John McKenna. This is a good example of a fusion of traditional and digital sculpture methods. I provided models of the heads and got them 3D printed with the Laser sintering machine at  the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre in Huddersfield http://www.3mbic.com/.

John sculpted the heads into his clay model, made a mould, cast to wax and then cast to bronze. The sculpture is a test piece for a proposed sculpture that will include 135 scans of real people who are local to the site where the sculpture will be. It is a pretty cool project. Teh scans will be done with an Artec Scanner and processed with there software and post processed with ZBrush. Thence prepared for print with Geomagic
